Growing and Growing!

After months and months and months of searching for the right property, disputing about the price, waiting on government regulations and COVID-19 to dissipate, we have finally purchased land to build offices and a new school!

Currently, Hope Academy, our second school, meets in the small church in Monte Verde.  However -- drum roll please -- we can FINALLY begin construction of the new school!  Students will transition to the new building next fall where we hope to have classes for preschool through 12th grade, just like the 2nd Mile Education Center.

WHY do we want to build another school?

Before the pandemic, the tourist area of Bavaro was growing rapidly and the government was falling short in providing enough schools to educate all of the kids in the area.  Private schools charge enormous monthly fees that are not an option for the poorest families.  Although many in the area have moved away because the resorts have closed and jobs were lost, education will always be a need.  Even this year we have a waiting list for both our schools.  We genuinely believe education is an investment in a child's future!

Our goal is to raise the funds needed to cover the cost of construction through our matching gift campaign.  Dollar-for-dollar, your donation will be matched up to $50,000.  This means that your gift will go twice as far and educate twice as many children!
